There’s also the Katlantis splash water park and soft play areas ideal for toddlers.
There is more than 1 waterpark to be visited in Majorca but Aqualand El Arenal near the sprawling city of Palma de Majorca is the biggest one of them all. The park is split up into several sections. Kizsworls comprises of Adventureland boasting 12 thrilling kids-only water slides, Dragonland featuring a giant dragon in a massive pool and several water slides and Children’s Paradise is ideal for the littles family members with shallow water, hanging bridges and small slides. Adrenaline Fun has the scariest water attractions while the chill-out & Play zone features a bubble bath and lazy river. There are also special family attractions where you can slide next to one another.
Sa Dragonera is a set of 3 protected uninhabited islands located just offshore on the west coast of the island. On top of that, the islands are shaped like dragons, too, which is what gave this island group and nature reserve their name. Kids have to be a minimum of 9 years old for most of the courses but for families travelling with younger kids, there’s always Jungleparc Junior where kids between 4 and 12 years old can do the Piratas course with 52 different exercises between 1 and 7 metre in height. Conquer fears, challenge yourselves and have lots of fun in the open-air. It’s easy at Junglparck!
When you were young, at some point your favourite animal must’ve been dolphins. These beautiful, friendly and extremely smart sea creatures are a stunning sight to see – free and wild as they are, swimming together in groups and seeking interaction with one another and also with humans. Around Majorca, you can go dolphin watching in the earliest hours of the morning, around sunrise time. 95% guaranteed you will see them swimming around the boat and jumping up in the air. Kids will love it and so will you! Boats leave around 6 am in the morning and the tour takes around 2-3 hours. In case you don’t see any dolphins (highly unlikely), most tour operators will take you out on another day free of charge.
Well, we all know Majorca is a beach paradise and it is probably the main reason you flew over to the island with the family. Where to start? Well, whether you are looking for a secluded bay or a long stretch of white sandy beach for hours of baking under the sun, Majorca has it all. The beaches in Majorca have soft white sands and calm waters, perfectly safe for families with kids. Most families love Puerto Pollensa, Cala Domingo Gran and the seven beaches at Cala d’Or.
Not only can you see amazing creatures from the magical underwater world from up close (think turtles, sharks, rays, and starfish) but Palma Aquarium also boasts a splash pool and an outdoor play area with bouncing castle and a pirate ship. Palm Aquarium has over 700 species of marine life living in the Mediterranean sea and it’s a definite must-visit when spending a couple of days in La Palma de Majorca (like you should!).
The island of Majorca has many beautiful limestone caves to be explored. One of them is The Dragon Cave ‘Cuevas del Drach’ located in Porto Cristi near the ocean. What makes these caves so special? Well, for one, it is in these caves that are approximately 4 km long, you will find Europe’s largest underground lake but another highlight is the classical music concerts held every day inside the cave. It’s a unique, magical experience that kids and parents are bound to love. You will visit the underground lake on a boat. Such a magical place the underworld is!
Kids always love to ride the train and they’ll especially love this ride, going through the rugged mountain range from the great city of La Palma de Majorca to the lovely town of Soller, famous for its seafood and artisan ice cream. The ride takes around 1 hour and it just might be the most beautiful train ride you’ve ever been on in Europe (+ the best ice cream you’ve ever tasted in your life?).
After seeing all those historical buildings and contemporary museums in La Palma city, it is time for a kids’ museum! The little ones will love the Toy Museum. Such an interesting place spread over several levels, showcasing antique toys and games, traditional Mallorcan dollhouses and vintage mechanics. The Toy Museum also has a playroom and a restaurant where you can try Mallorcan food.
Sitting at the foot of Mount Puig de Galatzo, on the southside of the Sierra de Tramuntana mountain range, La Reserva is a paradise for wildlife lovers. This nature reserve is home to bears, deer, ostriches, donkeys, peacocks, goats and birds. Go walk around and you’ll not only spot wildlife but you will also pass tranquil streams and waterfalls, great for picnics and precious family time surrounded by unspoiled nature. The reserve even has a special picnic and BBQ area and you can go swimming in natural spring water. Still up for some activity? Well, there are hanging Tibetan bridges, swings, ziplining and kids can learn the art of archery or go rock climbing. Great fun!
Got active kids who just can never sit still? Take them to Palma Jump and they can bounce and jump and laugh all day, getting all their energy out. This trampoline centre is located in La Palma – a great place to go on a rainy day or after wandering around the city and museums and doing things the kids rather not be doing 🙂 This is a great reward for their patience.
