Attractions, activities and dining in Alcudia
Your Alcudia villa with private pool is just a five-minute drive from the coast, so you’re never too far away from the stunning beaches that Marjoca is famous for. The island’s coastline is diverse—ranging from long stretches of white sand beaches to rocky cliffs and secluded coves—so beach-goers have a variety of landscapes to discover.Alcudia Beach, or Playa de Alcudia, lends itself to family vacationers. It boasts fine, golden sand and calm waters that are safe for children to splash about in. There are beach amenities, restaurants and shops nearby, plus all the water sports you could hope for—including parasailing, water skis, jet skis and more.
There’s plenty else to do, even if you’re not after time on the beach. Visit the historic town of Alcudia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that dates back to over 2,000 years ago. Take a stroll through the town’s narrow cobblestone streets, where you’ll find historic buildings, along with a wide range of restaurants, cafes and shops.
Key attractions within the old town include the Gothic Church of Sant Jaume, known for its impressive Neo-Gothic architecture and interiors. The Museu Sa Bassa Blanca, located just outside the old town features an excellent collection of art, as well as a sculpture park, rose garden and observatory. Climb up the ramparts and take a walk along the top of the ancient walls; it offers an excellent vantage point from which you can enjoy views over the town, and out to the bay of Pollensa.
On Tuesdays and Sundays, make your way to the local market taking place in the main square of the town. Here, you’ll find myriad stalls selling local produce, crafts and clothing. It’s a great venue to go souvenir shopping, and to stock up on ingredients for cooking at your Alcudia pool villa.
The town of Alcudia may not be particularly large, but it offers a diverse range of restaurants and cuisines. Fish and seafood play an important role in the local cuisine, given the town’s proximity to Port d'Alcudia. Popular dishes include paella, grilled octopus, calamari and sardines.
Can Polit Tapas, Osteria El Patio and Sa Portassa are some of our favourite restaurants located within the old town. Verdeteja, also situated in Alcudia caters to vegan and vegetarian diners with its wide-ranging menu.
Port d’Alcudia, located a quick drive from your private Alcudia pool villa, offers even more dining options. We recommend Koma Sushi & Asian Food for Asian fusion fare, Sa Roqueta Wine & Food for its intimate ambience and excellent wine list, and ALCANADA 35 Restaurante for its relaxed setting and seaviews.
Nightlife in Alcudia is relaxed and laid back, rather than lively. Located close to the heart of the town are venues like Cerveseria Santa Anna, which offers tapas and a great selection of local craft beers, as well as Bar Maya, a crowd favourite with locals and holidaymakers alike.
If you’re looking to party the night away, you’re just a short ride away from Port d’Alcudia and its thriving nightlife scene. But the port offers options for a relaxed night out too; head to BARco Nina for live music, plus uninterrupted views of the harbour, or sip cocktails at Sky Bar Romanov while drinking in the breathtaking sunset view.
